“Viet”, 34 Greek Street, London.

Another new one for us.

Viet on Greek St in Soho, London.

From the outside :

the menu

Our Banh Xeo starter, which was slightly disapointing i have to say. In Vietnam these are a brightest possible yellow and have lot of fresh herbs and pork with the prawns. “Viet” just had prawns and beansprouts, and im sure we could get better Banh Xeo in London somewhere.

then, of course, the main… Pho Ga

really impressed with this. Lots of fresh tahi basil available and a really interesting broth. The strongest taste of Star Anise ive had in a Pho and it really works. Fruity and tasty.

All in all, pretty good. £6.50 for the Pho, and good quick service

Pho - The London chain

Main players in the UK Pho market, Pho have four different restaurant sites now.

We hit it yesterday for some Pho action.

i had a Bun Ga Hue, with Pho noodles. It was deliciously spicy with an extra fruityness than can only be orange zest. Nice.

@karlwoolley had the same, whilst @gooders_30 went with the Pho Ga

Good restaurant. Perhaps not as authentic as the family run alternatives in London, but a great lunch nonetheless. Super tasty. Recommended.

and very busy ! arrive before 1pm if you want a table for lunch

Quick trip to NAM this lunchtime

Love this place.

The kind lady behind the counter even gave us cut shoots of Thai Basil that we can plant.

Today’s Pho Ga

Regular contributor @karlwoolley is currently growing his own Thai Basil, Mint and Cilantro.

We’ll be watching closely as his crops come to fruition.

Really useful online store to get those hard to find seasoning cubes, for those of us unable to spend 24 hours bubbling some stock.
